Consider joining the faculty at WPI.<br><br>JOB DESCRIPTION<br><br>The Data Science program, an interdisciplinary program that includes faculty in Computer Science, Mathematical Sciences, and the Business School, anticipates hiring a tenure-track faculty member in Data Science starting Fall 2022 to strengthen this strategic interdisciplinary area. Outstanding candidates in any area and any rank related to Data Science will receive full consideration. Candidates should have a PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematical Sciences, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field, and the potential for excellence in teaching and research.<br><br>The new faculty will join the strong team of 18 Data Science faculty working on interdisciplinary research related to big data on real-world grand challenge problems with societal impact. Areas of interest in Data Science at WPI include machine/deep learning, large-scale data management, statistical learning, business analytics, big data analytics, optimization, natural language processing, signal processing, visualization, and artificial intelligence, with applications spanning broadly social computing, digital health, chemical engineering, fraud detection, social media, cyber-physical systems, material sciences, industrial engineering, cyber-security to urban computing.<br><br>The Data Science program has undergone major growth since its inception in 2014 supported by the hiring of ten full-time faculty in Data Science including in statistical learning, deep learning, big data, NLP, signal processing, business analytics and AI and closely related disciplines. The signature Data Science program offers on-campus degree programs at all levels, including BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Data Science. Construction is underway on a new state-of-the-art building, which will be the home of Data Science and other interdisciplinary programs. Occupancy in the new building is expected Spring 2022.<br><br>WPI&#39;s reputation as a rigorous and innovative university rests on the shoulders of its faculty.
